Christmas catering in KL and Selangor costs about RM30 to RM60 per pax for a western buffet, and RM70 to RM130 per pax for canapés or a premium roast menu. For a 30-person office party, a western buffet comes to roughly RM900 to RM1,750 before delivery and SST.

The bigger surprise is the minimum order. Many Christmas packages only start at 30 or 50 guests, which rules them out for a team of 12 or a family dinner. Below are published prices from caterers in the Klang Valley, what each group size actually costs, and which packages take small groups.

How much does Christmas catering cost in KL?

• Western buffet, RM30 to RM60 per pax. Urbean Cafe's western spreads on GatherPlate are RM30 and RM40 per pax. Halal Christmas catering for mixed offices

In many Malaysian offices, the Christmas lunch has to work for Muslim colleagues too. Check the halal claim the same way you would for any event: a certificate is different from a caterer describing itself as halal or Muslim friendly.

Turkey, roast beef or roast chicken?

Beef and lamb appear from about RM89 per pax, with Canape Catering's sirloin roast at RM89 and lamb shoulder at RM129. Roast turkey is rarely part of a fixed per-pax price. Drop-off or full setup: what is included

• Drop-off in disposable trays. Lux Catering's mini buffet arrives ready to serve, with no setup crew or equipment. You plate it yourselves.
• Drop-off with a buffet line. Dateen Catering's western buffets include chafing dishes, serving utensils, table skirting and disposable plates, cutlery and cups.
• Set up and presented. Urbean Cafe's canapé packages include decorative setup, food presentation and cutlery, served on site.

Drop-off is cheaper but needs someone at the office to receive it, set it out and clear up. For a party in a meeting room with no pantry, a package with chafing dishes and a proper buffet line saves a lot of hassle.

Christmas Day 2026 falls on a Friday, so office Christmas lunches will bunch into the weeks of 14 and 21 December, and Christmas Eve is a Thursday. Caterers usually need only a few days' notice for a standard order, but popular December dates fill up, so lock in your date and caterer in November and confirm the final headcount a week before.

The costs on top of the per-pax price

• Delivery. Among caterers that publish a delivery charge, the lowest runs from RM30 to RM200, with a median of RM52.50.
